There are many facets to weight management.  Perhaps you don't like yourself very much and are keeping the weight on as a form of self-protection. So, over-eating may be a form of self-sabotage.

Comfort eating may have started out as an attempt to fulfill an unmet need but the need wasn't met and the weight went on.  Then, when the need was met, comfort eating became a habit.

It doesn't help that manufacturers add certain ingredients to their foods in order to make us want more of the same. Fast foods are, in a sense, not foods at all and they begin to steal your shape and energy, your dignity and even your sense of femininity or masculinity.

Maybe you have a sweet tooth?  Added sugar is the single worst ingredient in the modern world.  It contains no essential nutrients, it can have harmful effects on metabolism and contributes to fatty liver disease and diabetes, is the leading contributor to obesity and is one of the leading drivers of heart disease.  Added to which, scientists believe that having constantly elevated insulin levels (a consequence of sugar consumption) contributes to cancer.

I don’t advocate diets.  Why?  Because we can all lose weight on a diet but it’s when we return to normal eating that the weight goes back on,  And more!  A further diet will have the same effect.  So, constant dieting is not only training our bodies to live on less but to become very good fat storing machines.  I see many clients who have been on all sorts of diets, have yo-yo dieted for years, yet are still not happy with their weight. They may talk about ‘being good’ and seem to be caught in the trap of trying to eat healthily but not knowing what to eat any more.

Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we will formulate a healthier lifestyle by making small adjustments to what, when and how much you eat, usually resulting in three, correct and proper, satisfying, healthy meals a day with healthy snacks in between.  This means that  your blood sugar levels will remain stable, preventing cravings for sugary foods and the inevitable crash it brings, and you will enjoy eating delicious, healthy meals.

Under hypnosis,  I will motivate you to choose the right foods in sensibly sized, filling portions and to become a little bit active, such as walking further from the car park to the office.

It’s not a quick fix because quick fixes don’t work in the long term.  It is changing your lifestyle so that you effortlessly lose a few pounds a week to become, and stay, slim, healthy, youthful and active.

With appropriate Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy, weight management is one of the most treatable ailments, it has a dramatically lower rate of relapse than with anti-depressants alone and is now considered one of the most effective treatments.

When we first meet it will be for the Initial consultation, I will introduce myself and we will spend some time getting to know each. We will discuss what you want to achieve from therapy. I will note down some general background and medical information.

I will then explain to you how your brain works and how we use hypnosis to help us move forward. These explanations form the foundations for all that we will do as we go forward. You will be introduced to simple tools and techniques that you can start to use straight away to start making really positive steps to achieving your goals. It is amazing how many of my clients find this session enlightening and rewarding.


Subsequent sessions will last for 50 minutes. The first half of the session is spent helping you focus on what you want to achieve. This is called brain based theory and involves understanding how the brain works. It is at this stage you will set a goal to work towards between sessions. This therapy relies upon you fully committed to change. I will do my very busy to facilitate change and give you a helping hand but ultimately your success will depend on your commitment. Change can be difficult for reasons I will explain but with commitment progress will be made and quickly. The second part of the session is conducted with you on the couch. I will put you into hypnosis and use a combination of relaxation and positive suggestion to begin creating and modifying the neural pathways in the brain. This helps you to start moving forward in your life. My clients really look forward to going into trance as it is really enjoyable.

The actual nature and length of treatment will of course depend on you and your circumstances, but the majority of clients experience a significant improvement and are ready to cease therapy after 6 to 8 sessions.*
